Efficacious and “melts” into your skin for a weightless, radiance-enhancing luminous glow. Not too long ago I was invited to preview Stila’s Spring / Summer 2019 releases at Rosewood Hotel Georgia! My go-to eyeliner has always been Stila’s waterproof eyeliner, so I was extra excited […]
Have you heard of this new luxury high-performance skincare line called Veriphy? This green beauty scientific breakthrough is formulated and made in Canada by female entrepreneurs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The team is committed to promoting and empowering women in STEM which they plan on awarding scholarships to young women entering STEM at University of Guelph! – how cool is that? I’ve been using Veriphy Skincare for the past few months and it is time to share my results and review this revolutionary skincare line.
Veriphy is not your average mom-and-pop shop or mix of homemade concoctions in one’s own kitchen. This natural indie brand is truly sophisticated, high-tech, and luxurious. Veriphy Skincare products are 100% cruelty-free, with no animal testing at all stages of product development. It is sulfate-free, paraben-free, mineral oil free, phthalate-free, silicone-free and fragrance-free. The packaging material is 98% natural and recyclable. All products are manufactured and packaged in Canada. PhytoSpherix™ is created in a newly built manufacturing facility in Guelph that is Bullfrog Powered.
I love the deep peacock turquoise green glass packaging with gold details. It is a welcomed departure from the overused Millennial Pink. It feels very luxurious. The pump keeps things sanitary with me dabbing my dirty fingers into the cream!
I was so excited to meet the president Alison Crumblehulme and lead formulator Jessica Kizovski at the product launch in Vancouver. The geek in me loved hearing about how the brand was founded, the scientific research conducted and the efficacy studies (before and after results) that took place! I felt so inspired and was truly having a #girlboss moment!
“It all started when a revolutionary and powerful ingredient called PhytoSpherix™ was discovered at the University of Guelph,” said Alison Crumblehulme, Founder and President of Veriphy. “Glycogen is naturally found in your body and skin as nature’s way of storing energy. Previously only available by extraction from animal muscle or liver, researchers at the University developed a green, water-based process for extracting glycogen from plants (phytoglycogen) and called the product PhytoSpherix™. Years of additional research led to the discovery that all-natural PhytoSpherix™ is an excellent skin moisturizer and produces an outstanding anti-aging response when incorporated into skin-care products. The extracted plant-derived substance allows the molecules to stay intact and completely unmodified.
What does Veriphy mean?
Veriphy is pronounced like verify ( ver·i·fy /ˈverəˌfī/ ). The name Veriphy itself is a play on words; a hybrid of Vert (French for green) and Phy (from both PhytoSpherix™ and nature in Greek roots). The name is also a play on the word ‘verify’, further signifying the team’s commitment to scientific verification of their products.
If your vanity counter is at all like mine, it probably holds many jars of “hope” – snowy, silken glamorously colonized glass jars of rich face cream, serums and essences. While it is fun to try new products, it is also frustrating when it doesn’t work. I was blown away in my first few weeks the results I was getting from PhytoSpherix™. This powerful ingredient literally gives skin energy to produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, it fuels skin cells so they revitalize and rejuvenate naturally.
Clinical trials* yielded impressive results including:
- 97% said their complexion was more radiant
- 93% said their skin was more silky
- 90% said their skin was smoother
- 83% said they saw a blemish reduction
- 71% said their complexion was more homogenous
- 69% said their skin was more hydrated
- 63% said their skin is less sensitive
*results after 4 weeks with 2 applications a day
The initial collection was developed as a three-product treatment line. Three Holy Grail products that would showcase the efficacy of PhytoSpherix™. All three products contain a high concentration of PhytoSpherix™ and additional ingredients such as peptides and AHA for fast, visible results.
Their full-size skincare system is reasonably priced $272 (ranging between CAD $82 to $105 each).
20/20 Eye Cream, 15 mL E/ 0.5 oz. $82
This firming and smoothing eye cream uses the power of PhytoSpherix™ and peptides to decrease puffiness and brighten the eye area. Combining the firming power of peptides, the hydrating power of PhytoSpherix™ and the brightening power of niacinamide visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and the severity of dark circles. The eye cream also contains cucumber extract to decrease the appearance of puffiness. I love that cucumber is in it for a very nice efficacious cooling and refreshing application.
Use: half pump in the morning / night.
Power Trip Facial Serum, 30 mL E/ 1.0 oz. $105
An AHA serum with a powerful blend of Lactic Acid and PhytoSpherix™ exfoliates the skin, improving skin texture, revealing a fresh and revitalized complexion. The fruit blend of AHA (lemon and blueberries) exfoliates the skin and promotes skin rejuvenation. It moisturizes and is effective while being gentle at the same time.
Self Absorbed Facial Moisturizer, 50 mL E/ 1.7 oz. $85
The PhytoSpherix™ and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) moisturizer provides lasting hydration, plumps the skin, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Avocado oil helps to nourish and soothe the skin while Algae, Green Tea and Licorice Root Extracts work in unison to even skin tone, unveiling a radiant and glowing complexion.
This facial moisturizer was just okay for me. I did not find the application to be as efficacious compared to the serum and eye cream.
I highly recommend incorporating Veriphy Skincare into your beauty regimen – particularly the serum and eye cream. Veriphy Skincare was designed with all skin types in mind. I have naturally fair skin that can be dry/combination especially during the winter months in Canada. I have a few freckles that started appearing the past few years (read: I probably should have been more diligent with my sun care SPF applications!)
My skin’s redness seemed to have reduced and discolouration mildly smoothed. The most noticeable difference probably was the improvement of my skin’s texture. After a month using Veriphy, I found my skin to look more hydrated (less flaky skin especially around my mouth and nose). I’m not entirely sure if it has reduced my fine lines around my eyes. At the moment those bloody crow’s feet only appear when I laugh really hard.
The formula across all three Veriphy products are non-greasy and absorbs into the skin easily.
My skin did not breakout once during my use of the Veriphy line.
I also recommend slowly switching and replacing your skincare products individually, that way you won’t shock you skin too much!
- suitable for all skin type
- calming and reduced redness
- discolouration smoothed
- improved skin texture
- improved hydration
- moisturizes and absorbs easily into skin
- skin did not break-out

Never miss a hair. Get every single hair plucked! I love my Tweezerman slant tweezers. They are honestly the best pair of tweezers ever made. I’ve had mine for over ten years and I don’t know what I’d do without them! I have a pair […]
We recently got Emily’s newborn photos back from our baby photographer. The photos are absolutely gorgeous. The photographer provided us copies in digital format but it’s simply not the same treasuring them in a print format. So naturally we wanted to have a printed copy in a photo album. We wanted to customize a photo book unique to our preferences.
A lot of these photo book sites are based in US and not many our Canadian based. There are lots of extra costs associated with shipping and custom/import duties upon delivery when shipping from the States into Canada. Luckily, I found Pikto, based in Toronto. This Canadian company designs and manufactures their photobooks and has an amazing quick turnaround time. We received our photo book in 4 days!
They have many photo album options ranging from eco-friendly to IRO Flushmount. Creating an album is super easy. You can drag and drop files, chose layout formats and preview and save albums seamlessly.
We ordered both. One for her professional baby photos and one for her Instagram photos.
The photo albums are carefully packaged and even came with white gloves!
Pikto’s IRO Flushmount is vibrate and timeless. The results are so lovely, I’m already making a new wedding photo album. Or maybe one for my food & travel photography.
What is IRO 色?
Etymology: A Japanese character with a layered history. The original definition of IRO (色) is romantic and familial love. This meaning has evolved to evoke visions of flowers, beauty and ultimately, COLOR.
Sizes: 12×12, 10X10, 12×9 Landscape or Portrait
Prices start at $250 CAD available in paper format of Luster, Metallic and Deep Matte. You can choose a white core or colour core. Debossing Cover and also a customer IRO Album slip case for additional $95 CAD.
For the cover I chose Linen in Canary Yellow and the cover with Olive Green debossed with gold font.
I love how cute her Instagram photos turned out printed on their Eco-Friendly photo album that starts from a low price of $9.95 CAD.
- High quality yet eco friendly photobook at a very competitive price
- 100% recycled, subtlety textured, finger pleasing paper & cover (Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), GreenSeal and Green-e certified)
- Rich, fine-art quality, digital offset printing

I come from a long line of sun spot avoiders. In my 20s, I never had a skincare routine that I followed religiously. It wasn’t until I hit my 30s that I really used sunscreen (by the way you definitely should – just like eye cream)! So while my friends were bathing in the sun or seeking that golden glow with self tanners I was looking for brightening miracles. Something that would melt away age.
A box of Sulwhasoo is expensive. It costs CAD $180 per box. That is $18 per sheet mask. Others average half the price. Dr Jart+ for example costs CAD $9. Although it pricey, I feel the results warrant the sticker price.
