I’ve been meaning to do a review on the new-ish Korres Wild Rose skincare collection but wanted to give it a good solid use before reporting my results. Now that I’ve been using Korres for about 2 months now, I’d like to say – I wish I had discovered them earlier!
In case you are not familiar with Korres’ history, Korres beauty brand founded in 1996 in Athens by pharmacist Georgios Korres from the island of Naxos. It produces skincare products based on natural ingredients and born out of a Greek homoeopathic pharmacy!
Natural Ingredients
When selecting skincare products, I gravitate towards natural ingredients and ones with high water content. Korres uses natural active ingredients that are skin and environmentally friendly. What I love about Korres is that all their products clearly communicate the exact percent of natural ingredients that are in each formula. For example, Vitamin C 24-Hour Moisturiser has 90.8% natural ingredients.
Pharmaceutical Grade Water USP (United States Pharmacopeia) grade water with conductivity of 0.8 microsiemens/cm aka over 5 times more pure than what is actually required. It is even more pure than European pharmaceutical guidelines.
Ingredients Used:
- Medicinal Herbs: Ingredients inherited from our pharmacy days
- Greek Flora: Greece has bountiful endemic flora that has evolved to grow in Greece’s unique environment
- Food: Beneficial ingredients with advanced skincare properties
- Natural Actives: Extracts found with proven efficacy through research carried out by the KORRES Research & Development Lab
Ingredients They Avoid:
MINERAL OIL
- Mineral Oil
- Petrolatum
- Parafin Wax
- Silicones
- Parabens
- Proplene Glycol Ethanolamines PEGs
So which product made the cut into my medicine cabinet?
Wild Rose H2Rose Hydrating Face Mist
I love this hydrating face mist! It is my favourite product from Korres. The formula and ingredients are all natural and pure. Rosa Damascena flower water is the first ingredient listed on the ingredient list followed by aqua water! Rose water hydrates and refreshes and Vitamin C and aloe clams and soothes the skin. My skin feels energized and well-balanced first thing in the morning after a gentle cleanse! There is also orange blossom water and Hyaluronic acid to moisturize your skin.
This hydrating mist leaves my skin dewy, luminous and hydrated all day long! I also love that it is a 3-in-1 toner and finishing spray where you can set your makeup and prevents it from caking! It leaves my skin buttery soft. I use this twice a day – once in the morning, and before bed time. When the weather is cold and dry, I give myself a good spray too.
And can we PLEASE talk about the spray nozzle. It is by far the BEST one on the market. How often did your toner spit on you? Korres put a lot of time and research into perfecting the packing and experience. The spray bottle is efficacious. A fine mist comes out from start to finish without choking up. No spit ups and no large droplets. It does not leave white patches on the skin when applied over makeup.
I will definitely repurchase this toner / hydrator again!
This creamy moisturizer hydrates and hugs your skin without being greasy. The Vitamin C, water-based daily moisturizer brightens and hydrates skin for up to 24 hours. 90.8% natural ingredients with water listed as the first ingredient! There is also turmeric extract that helps improve the appearance of fine lines and evens skin tone.
If you are worried that the "alcohol" ingredient listed would damage or dry your skin, Alcohol Denat is actually used in skincare products as an anti-foaming agent. It is used to thin formulations and to enhance penetration of the ingredients into the skin.
This moisturizer is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. I like using this as a day moisturizer and helps prep my skin for makeup. My skin is subtle and soft and appears smoother. Make up glides smoothly on top of this cream.
This Korres Vitamin C moisturizer is free from Sulfates SLS and SLES, Parabens, Formaldehydes, Formaldehyde-releasing Agents, Phthalates, Mineral Oil, Retinyl Palmitate, Oxybenzone, Coal Tar, Hydroquinone, Triclosan, Triclocarban, Silicones, Animal Testing.
After Emily was born, I've been getting a lot of dark spots. I'm not sure if it something to do with the change in hormones or just the pure joy of "aging"! Also, it seems more apparent in the summer...
This Korres Vitamin C serum seems to have helped reduce some of the nasty hyperpigmentation. The "freckles" around my cheekbones and under the corner of my eye appears lighter and my skin is more luminous overall.
The serum has a faint and pleasant scent. It is not too perfumy when compared to the Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil.
This unique formula is formulated in two phases to maximize the results for your skin. The top oil phase is comprised of Wild Rose Oil with 15% Vitamin C for the ultimate brightening & evening skin tone. KORRES Super Vitamin C absorbs 1000% more than pure ascorbic acid and helps to even skin tone for a smooth, radiant complexion. The bottom water phase is a powerful brightening complex made with natural ingredients to minimise the appearance of skin discolourations. Additional natural ingredients such as Vitamin C, Provitamin B5, and Bisabolol and Ginger Root Extract are also included for their antioxidant protection, and ability to hydrate all skin types.
I REALLY liked the Wild Rose Hydrating Mist and the cream so much that I purchased Korres' Vitamin C oil and serum online at Shoppers Drug Mart with EBATES.
Pro Tip: Waited for Shoppers Drug Mart 20x PC Optimum Points event and also saved an extra 2% cash back! That's like over $50 of pure savings for just being a savvy shopper!!!
Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil
When the weather was colder and the heat was pumping at home, I used this Wild Rose face oil a lot. I love that it is infused with real rose petals, wild rose oil and boosted with Super C (ultra-concentrated Vitamin C oil is rich in omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids and vitamins A and C) to help brighten and nourish the skin. What I didn't like about it was the smell. I find it pungent and not very pleasant even though it is synthetic fragrance-free!
The formulation isn't greasy and absorbs quickly (but not too quickly that you feel nothing!) It leaves a silky, fresh and dewy glow. It is one of the lightest face oils I've tried. If you hate the feeling of heavy oil on your skin, this is like the anti-oil oil. It doesn't feel oily or look shiny! Sometimes I even forget that it is even on, except that my skin feels softer than ever!
I like to mix this into my moisturizer for an extra boost when my skin feels dry and cracked.
Wild Rose Foaming Cream Cleanser
The last product that I tried from Korres' Wild Rose skincare line was this Wild Rose Foaming Cream Cleanser. This is a gentle cleanser. It is good for sensitive skin without stripping the natural oils from your skin.
Although this is a gentle cleanser, it is able to remove every drop of makeup off - even mascara! I do recommend using a proper makeup remover first - I LOVE this one.
This Wild Rose face wash is enriched with Wild Rose Oil, a natural source of vitamin C, which absorbs 1,000 percent more than pure ascrobic acid, the cleanser refreshes the skin, maintaining its normal pH levels while leaving it silky, soft and supple.
Final Thoughts
Overall I really like the whole Korres Wild Rose collection and the packaging is super cute! I love that it uses natural ingredients without all the nasty harmful chemicals.
The prices are affordable and you can purchase it at Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart online or in-store. For extra savings remember those 20x PC Optimum points event or Sephora's VIB sales!
