Greetings from Playa Del Carmen, Mexico! I just love the Caribbean beaches with nice white sand and warm ocean water. It is so different from the Pacific side! I must say I am overdue for a vacation where I can turn of my brain. I loved snorkeling right at the resort! We brought our own snorkeling equipment. If you rent, they don't give you new mouth pieces which is gross!
We are staying at BARCELO Maya Palace Deluxe Hotel and Resort and this place is beautiful. This is my second time here at the resort and I must say isn't what I remembered it to be. My overall experience is good, but like so many warning signs on Tripadvisor, there are few disappointments. What's the #1 hotel in Cancun? If you are planning a trip to Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe, I must warn you that we found the level of service to be lackluster. Many top resorts in Mexico take pride to provide the best service possible. They will go out of their way to ensure your stay memorable.
Service at front desk is scattered and no one seems interested in our comments or complaints. There were many empty glasses left in the pool. There were seaweeds that were not raked on the beaches. The public bathrooms are dirty, in fact gross. We made it a point to go back to our rooms to use the bathroom!
Aside from that, the food in the restaurants were delicious. We tried Caribe, the French restaurant and had a nice buffet every morning! Service at the restaurants were really nice.

The beach wedding reception was very well organized and decorated with lights. There was open bar, DJ playing music and it was so relaxing! Can you believe we went snorkeling in the morning with the bride, sun tanned on the beach before the ceremony at the gazebo and reception?
